Your BFF is the person you go to when you are sad, angry, or happy. You share many memories and secrets with her. So what happens when she has to move away?
Since you know distance will not change your relationship, here are some tips to keep it going strong:
Before your BFF leaves, make a special night to be together and compile a playlist of songs that are special to each of you and your friendship. Make some of them sad and sappy, and of course, include the songs that make you both get up and dance.
Create memory books. Get two albums, gather lots of pictures (best to have doubles made), and grab some stickers and photo markers. With these simple tools, you can cherish your memories, laugh and create something you will both keep forever.
Share your photos and make something to give your BFF by creating a collage. There are so many fun ways to do this! One way is to start with pictures you both cherish, and then cut descriptive words or pictures from a magazine. These clippings might describe your friendship, your best friend or a specific event in a creative way. The laughs you share will be priceless!
Have all of your BFF’s favorite foods (including dessert) at the ready. Personally, my BFF and I love to eat! We have so much fun lying around in our jammies with the desserts we love best. You’ll be full when you’re through noshing but totally satisfied! You can also throw in a manicure and pedicure, and reminisce over all that chocolate.
At the end of the night, you can each make a friendship bracelet. For a fun way to create one, take a safety pin and stack beads onto the pin. You can do patterns together or whatever you like, decorating several safety pins this way. Then, put all the pins on two pieces of elastic, and you have a fun, fantastic friendship bracelet you both can wear.
When your BFF is finally in her new home, send pictures on a regular basis. Don’t give up on seeing each other all the time either; iChat to stay in touch. It will be like you are with each other, making new, fun memories.
A move will definitely be hard for both of you, but be supportive. Remember, you are not leaving all of your comforts behind. She is! Be positive and excited for her, and VISIT whenever possible!
